Today is the repose day of the wondrous Elder Michael the Second (also called “Michael the Blind”) of the Valaam and Pskov Caves Monasteries in Russia back in 1962. Please say a prayer for the repose of his God-pleasing soul! Together with Elders Luke, Adrian, John (Krestiankin) and others he is another wonderful recent light of holiness who was laid to rest in the Pskov Caves. ˆˆ
Saint Akakios of Kapsokalyvia
Today is the commemoration day of St. Akakios of the Skete of Kavsokalyvia on Mt. Athos. Back when I visited Mt. Athos right around this time of the year there were some monasteries and sketes I visited, and one of them was Kavsokalyvia. While there I was able to visit the cave wherein St. Akakios of Kavsokalyvia labored.
